The boat is 14 feet long from bow to rudder,

with a covered deck to hide the hunter and provide safety in rough water,

a shallow keel for navigating estuaries, bays, and harbours.

Foot pedals control the rudder and steer the boat,

while a hand crank flywheel drives a propeller that can be raised near the shore.

It has a low gunwale for resting a gun and pulling birds into the boat,

with a flat rear deck to pile the dead ducks and geese.

The boat was painted white to hide among ice floes.

The Goose Boat was forgotten in a barn for over 70 years until it was discovered by a local history enthusiast in 1983.
