The Goose Boat of Merigomish

Scroll

It was the most amazing of boats. But what will it do to the birds?

It is one-person sneakboat used to hunt Brant Geese on the Northumberland Strait.

It was built by Reverend Fred Fisher, avid hunter, and Presbyterian minister in Merigomish from 1911 to 1918.

At that time, Merigomish Harbour was dense with marine life and a stopover for migrating Brant Geese.
