Not Simply Co-Location

Merging Mandates

At the outset of the project a working committee was created and engaged architect Dale Archibald in the design process. Preliminary designs were then used in multiple community information sessions to gather ideas and feedback.

The design process involved much more than simply adding a piece on the deCoste and placing a library in that space. The working committee set out to truly create a blended facility where the two organizations could deliver their core services, while collaborating each and every day to provide new and expanded services and experiences. This will be the first facility in Nova Scotia to merge a library and performing arts centre in this fashion.
